Site Work Specialists Heavy Equipment Mechanic Job Description Job Summary: At Site Work Specialists, a heavy equipment mechanic assists with preventative maintenance and repairs of diesel equipment in the field.
They travel to various job sites to make electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs on equipment such as excavators, loaders, trenchers, dozers, and more.

) Maintain proper shop paperwork Keeping cab and floors of equipment free of trash Take direction and accomplish duties outlined by your supervisor and ask questions when you do not understand the task Be dependable to your team: You work as a team and progress as a team Assist with all tasks as directed by your supervisor; even it is below your skill level Education Requirements: No minimum education requirements Job Requirements and Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of experience specific to heavy equipment (will consider less than two years experience if the candidate has completed a recognized training program) Must be able to obtain Class A CDL with airbrake endorsement (willing to train) Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and random employee pool drug/alcohol testing Must have personal transportation to and from job sites, including out-of-town work Must arrive on time to job site fit for duty for required shift and have personal protective equipment (PPE) and necessary tools with you.
Attend all safety meetings and maintain safe job site practices following company policy Wear and maintain PPE as directed by supervisor and safety team, including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, and high visibility vests Willingness to learn and master new tasks, duties, and responsibilities Pay attention to job details to provide an acceptable uniform product Identify and communicate any job site hazards Safely and correctly operate all equipment and manual/power tools.
Do not operate any equipment or tools that you have not been trained to use properly Keep all tools in good, clean, and operating order Demonstrate and promote safety and proper housekeeping on all job sites and shop Display a positive attitude towards the company, fellow employees, and customers Be responsible for working unsupervised and complete work as directed Willingness to travel out-of-town Work overtime as required, including some weekends Maintain acceptable personal hygiene Dress appropriately for working conditions Required Tools: Must have own mechanic tools to work on heavy equipment Physical Requirements Able to physically lift heavy materials (up to 75 pounds) frequently throughout the work shift Ability to safely climb up and down ladders Ability to work alone once instructions have been given Able to complete a full day's assignments involving one or more of the following: Standing, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment and any other safety-related equipment Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements, indoor or outdoor, including heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, and snow, depending on the job location Able to work a minimum of 8 hours a day, with overtime and off-hour shifts as required About Our Company Founded over 20 years ago in Rapid City, SD, Site Work Specialists is an excavation, utility & site construction contractor serving South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, and North Dakota.
