The Department of Social Services is seeking a multitalented individual to provide vision and leadership, inspire high performance, manage programs and service delivery, and build successful teams within the Division of Child Protection Services and Department of Social Services.
This Regional Manager position oversees Child Protection operations in Rapid City.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following: administers human resources for the region to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, and departmental rules, policies and procedures; ensures efficient and effective operations; develops corrective action to ensure the integrity of the programs and benefits to customers; evaluates compliance and program accuracy/effectiveness statewide and develops tools to enhance services and/or makes modifications to current delivery methods to ensure optimum service delivery and promote maximum efficiency; develops and implements policies and procedures for statewide implementation of multiple activities/programs; represents the Department on behalf of the Department Secretary and/or Division Director to the general public and other public forums, and resolves complaints and responds to inquiries from the public, customers and/or constituents.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have: A bachelor's degree in social science or behavioral science or other human services related fields, business administration, public administration, education, or public health and/or experience in a related field may be considered as applicable to the entry level knowledge, skills and abilities.
Knowledge of: managerial, administrative, and supervisory principles and practices; and applicable regulations, programs, policies and procedures in providing direct services to customers.
Ability to: lead organizational change, develop successful teams and inspire high performance in staff is critical to this position; evaluate and monitor division operations, identify problem areas, and develop and implement corrective action plans; correctly interpret, analyze, and apply federal and state laws, regulations, and policies to provide technical advice, guidance, consultation and policy interpretation to other social services' personnel, customers, public officials, and private citizens; work independently and/or as a member of a variety of teams to consistently meet division goals and address customer needs; develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with others inside and outside the department; recognize, define, and solve problems using common sense, reasoning, and resourcefulness; ensure effective recruitment, selection, training, performance appraisal, recognition, and corrective/disciplinary action of the staff in this region.
Prepare clear and concise documentation, reports and correspondence that reflect relevant facts.
This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act.
This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
