The Department of Chemistry, Biology, and Health Sciences (CBHS) at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology invites applications for a full-time, benefited, 9-month tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level in Biochemistry (broadly defined).
The desired start date is August 2024.
Applicants are required to have a Ph.
D.
in Chemistry, Biology, or closely related discipline at the time of the appointment.
The successful candidate will be expected to have a strong commitment to excellence in instruction and will teach core chemistry and biology courses and elective courses in their area of expertise.
The candidate is expected to develop and maintain an externally funded research program.
Candidates with research areas that complement those of the current faculty and build on the strengths of the department and interdisciplinary graduate programs are encouraged to apply.
The CBHS Department offers an ACS-certified undergraduate degree in Chemistry, an undergraduate degree in Biology, and an undergraduate degree in Pre-professional Health Sciences.
Additionally, the department offers a MS degree in Green and Sustainable Chemistry and will offer a PhD degree in Chemical and Biological Sciences starting in Spring 2024.
Research areas currently being pursued by CBHS faculty include sustainable chemistry, biochemistry/biotechnology, materials chemistry, environmental science, health sciences, and deep underground science.
Faculty in the department also have opportunities to participate in multidisciplinary graduate programs and collaborate with the externally or state funded Research Centers (https://www.
