Our Organization Spearfish was surveyed and staked out in 1876 and officially incorporated in 1888.
The City of Spearfish has 150 employees who serve the residents and visitors of Spearfish.
On a seasonal basis, the city hires approximately 110 seasonal employees to assist in all areas of our organization.

35 Position Type: Regular full-time Status: Open until filled Job Summary This position provides customer service and clerical support for the operations of the recreation facility.
Minimum Requirements 100% - Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Essential Functions Maintains regular and reliable attendance with a physical presence.
Processes membership applications.
Handles money for fees collected for programs and memberships in recreational software.
Performs cash collection and shift till balancing.
Greets the public in a professional manner; tactfully handles questions, concerns, or complaints properly; provides facility tours.
Answers telephone calls and provides correct information when requested for a summary of memberships, day fees, rentals, and other information as requested.
Operates computer, copier, register, and other office equipment; assists with routine questions and refers others to appropriate personnel as needed.
Assists in concession area operations, including preparing beverage and food items, serving customers, taking money, making change, and maintaining a clean serving environment.
Provides back-up for office positions as needed.
Collects used towels from the work-out areas; washes, dries, folds, and stores towels.
Assists with recreation center programs and events; assists in setting- up and tearing down before and after events.
Monitors patrons to ensure safety and compliance with facility rules and policies.
Maintains files and records; prints brochures.
Assists in opening and closing functions.
Performs related duties.
