Black Hills State University is seeking applicants to fill an Associate Controller in the Finance and Administration division.
Duties:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate Controller to join our finance team.
The ideal candidate will assist in managing financial activities, ensuring accuracy, and compliance with accounting standards.
The Associate Controller will work closely with the Controller and other departments to support financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable and general ledger maintenance.
Monitor and analyze financial data, identifying trends and variances.
Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and company policies.
Collaborate with auditors and prepare documentation for audits.
Support the Controller in special projects and process improvement initiatives.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff as necessary.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
3+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Required Skills
Strong oral and written communication.
Ability to handle multiple projects with overlapping deadlines.
Strong organization skills.
Able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
