Job Description
RESPEC, a nationally recognized engineering consulting company, is seeking an Assistant Controller in our Rapid City, South Dakota, office.
This position will assist in planning and directing the accounting operations of the company, including maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
Responsibilities:
This position includes the following tasks:
Assist in various operations of the Accounting Department, which included federal and state audit preparation, accounts receivables, and bank reconciliations.
Prepare journal entries that include intercompany and foreign currency transactions.
Prepare and analyze benchmarks that will be used to measure company performance.
Assist with corporate registrations.
Provide financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
Work with external auditors for the annual audit.
Assist in preparing, calculating, analyzing, and finalizing indirect and overhead rates used for federal overhead rates (FAR/CAS) as well as similar overhead rates for various state contracts.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
Prepare billing statements and assist with revenue recognition and reconciliation.
Oversee leasing transactions and accounting for capital expenditures.
Understand GAAP and federal contracting requirements.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration
Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation is preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the required qualifications, the following education and skill set are preferred:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Organizational and time management skills
Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Compensation: Compensation for this position depends on several factors, including candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
